WanderWallet is now WanderDollar

WanderDollar, formerly WanderWallet: a free offline travel budget, journal and map app for Android

One announcement, two parts. WanderWallet is now WanderDollar, and the app has grown from a travel budget tracker into the place where a whole trip lives: the budget while you travel, and the journal, the map and the recap when you get home. It is still free, still works offline and still needs no account.

Why the new name

Search for “WanderWallet” on Google Play and you will find several unrelated apps with the same or a very similar name, including a payments app and a crypto wallet. Ours is a travel budget and journal, and people were landing on the wrong one. A name of its own fixes that. Nothing else about the app changed because of it.

What stays the same

  • It is the same app, so the update arrives on Google Play like any other. There is nothing to reinstall.
  • Your trips, expenses, journal entries, photos and settings are all still there.
  • Backups made before the change restore as normal.
  • Still free, still offline, no account and no login.

What is new

  • Journal: a line written for you each day from your stops and spending, plus a mood, a note and photos.
  • Trip recap: swipeable picture cards of your trip, in its own colours, ready to share.
  • Share day: one day of your trip as a post or a story, with a caption and the photos you pick, for Facebook, Instagram or anywhere else.
  • Map: tick the countries you have visited, keep a wish list, add trips from before you had the app, and see your continents, days away and daily cost by country.
  • Travel book: your days, notes and photos as a PDF or a web page.
  • Explore: ideas for your next trip from 335 cities, with the budget already filled in when you plan it.

The WanderDollar app page has screenshots of all of it.

Frequently asked questions

Is WanderDollar the same app as WanderWallet?

Yes. Only the name has changed. It is the same app from the same developer, and it updates in place.

Will I lose my trips or my journal?

No. Everything stays on your phone exactly where it was, and the update does not touch it.

Is it still free?

Yes. It is free to download and supported by ads. Sharing a recap, a day or a map unlocks with a short ad.

Does it still work offline?

Yes. The only network request is a once-a-day exchange-rate update, and the app works without it.

Why does the web address still say wanderwallet?

The old links keep working, so we kept them. The app page and the Google Play link are the same as before.
