WanderWallet Privacy Policy

WanderWallet ("the App") is provided as a free, ad-supported application. This page is used to inform users regarding our policies with the collection, use, and disclosure of information.

INFORMATION COLLECTION AND USE The App does not collect, store, or transmit any personally identifiable information from its users. We do not require you to create an account, sign in, or provide any personal data to use the App.

All content you create in the App — including your trips, destination legs, budgets, expenses, scanned receipt photos, packing lists, and the display names you enter for people in group mode — is stored only on your device, in a local database and in the App's private storage. We do not have access to this data, and it is not uploaded to us or to any server.

The App does not include analytics or tracking.

CAMERA AND PHOTOS The App requests camera permission and access to images on your device so that you can scan or import receipts. Receipt text is recognised entirely on your device using on-device optical character recognition (OCR); receipt images are never uploaded to us or to any third party. Any receipt photos you add are stored locally on your device alongside your other App data, and are only ever shared if you choose to do so yourself (for example, via the backup feature described below).

BACKUP AND DATA SHARING The App includes an optional backup feature that creates a single file (a ZIP) containing your database and receipt photos. This file is created at your request and is shared only through the method you choose (for example, saving to your device, cloud storage, or email) using your device's standard share sheet. We do not receive or store your backups. CSV exports of a trip work the same way — the file is created on your device and shared only by you.

NETWORK USE AND THIRD-PARTY SERVICES The App is designed to work fully offline. It makes only the following network requests:

  • Exchange rates — at most once per day, the App requests the latest currency exchange rates from open.er-api.com. This request contains no personal data; it simply asks for the current rates relative to the US dollar. See: https://www.exchangerate-api.com/terms
  • Google AdMob — used to display advertisements. AdMob may collect device identifiers (including the advertising ID), IP address, and usage data to serve personalised or non-personalised ads. See Google's privacy policy: https://policies.google.com/privacy
  • Google Play Services — required for advertising and core functionality on Android devices, and for downloading the on-device OCR model. See: https://policies.google.com/privacy

ADVERTISING AND CONSENT The App displays advertisements provided by Google AdMob (banner, interstitial, and rewarded ads). These ads may use cookies or device identifiers (including the advertising ID) to provide relevant advertising.

Where required (for example, for users in the European Economic Area and the United Kingdom), the App uses Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to request consent on first launch before serving personalised ads. You can change your choice at any time, and you can opt out of personalised advertising through your device settings under Google > Ads > Opt out of Ads Personalisation.

PERMISSIONS USED • Internet / Network access — to retrieve the daily exchange rates and to display ads. • Camera — to scan paper receipts. • Photos / media images — to import an existing receipt photo. • Advertising ID — used by Google AdMob for advertising, as described above. The App does not request location, contacts, microphone, or account permissions.

LOG DATA In the event of an error, the App may collect diagnostic data ("Log Data") through third-party services. This Log Data may include your device name, operating system version, the configuration of the App, the time and date of use, and other statistics.

LINKS TO OTHER SITES The App may contain links to external websites. These external sites are not operated by us, and we strongly advise you to review their privacy policies. We have no control over the content or practices of any third-party sites or services.

CHILDREN'S PRIVACY The App is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we discover that a child under 13 has provided personal information, we will delete it immediately.

CHANGES TO THIS PRIVACY POLICY We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date. You are advised to review this page periodically.
