Vehicle Service Manager Privacy Policy
# Privacy Policy for Vehicle Service Manager
**Last updated: 25 August 2026**
## Overview
Vehicle Service Manager ("the App") is a free, ad-supported Android application for keeping a private record of your vehicles — services and repairs, fuel fills and running costs, reminders for the things that expire, and business mileage claims. This Privacy Policy explains how the App handles information when you use it. Vehicle Service Manager is offline-first by design: **it has no account, no server and no cloud, and everything you record stays on your device.**
---
## Information We Collect
**Vehicle Service Manager does not collect, store, or transmit any personally identifiable information about you.**
We do not require you to create an account, log in, or provide any personal details to use the App.
Everything you create in the App — your vehicles, their registration and VIN, odometer readings, services and repairs with their costs and notes, fuel fills, reminders, business trips and their purpose, your tax rate settings, and every photo you add — is stored **only on your device**, in a local database (SQLite) and local files. There is **no cloud sync, no online account and no server-side copy of any kind**, because there is no server. Because this data stays on your device, uninstalling the App permanently removes it. You can also delete individual vehicles, entries and photos inside the App at any time.
The App contains **no analytics, no crash-reporting service and no telemetry** of its own. It makes no network requests other than those made by Google's advertising and consent components described below.
---
## Camera and Photos
You can photograph a service invoice, a receipt, a part or a vehicle. Photos are taken with the camera **only when you choose to take one**, and they are copied into the App's own private storage on your device. When you choose an existing photo instead, the App uses your device's system photo picker, which does not require the App to hold a broad photo-library permission.
Photos are handled **entirely on your device**. They are never uploaded to us or to any third party, and they leave the App only if you choose to share or export them yourself — for example in the service history PDF you hand to a buyer.
---
## Location
**The App holds no location permission of any kind and never requests one.** It cannot determine where you are, and it does not try to. Business mileage is recorded from odometer readings you type in yourself, which is a deliberate design decision rather than a limitation: an app that tracks your journeys is a different kind of app, and this one is not it.
---
## Notifications
The App can remind you when a service is due, or when a warrant, registration or insurance renewal is approaching. Notifications are scheduled and delivered **entirely on your device** by Android. Nothing about a reminder — what it is for, when it is due, or which vehicle it belongs to — is sent anywhere. You can turn notifications off inside the App or in your device settings.
The App asks to be told when your device restarts, so reminders you have already set survive a reboot rather than silently stopping.
---
## Files You Create
The App can produce files you choose to make: a service history PDF, a mileage claim as a PDF or a CSV, and a full backup as a ZIP. These are written to the App's own storage on your device and then offered to your device's share sheet, so **you** decide whether they go anywhere and where that is. Nothing is uploaded automatically, and the App has no destination of its own to upload to.
The App can also read a CSV file you choose, so that a service and fuel history kept in another app can be brought in. That file is read on your device and nothing about it is transmitted.
---
## Advertising
The App is free and is funded by advertising. It uses **Google AdMob** to display banner, interstitial and rewarded video ads.
Google AdMob may collect and use certain information to serve and measure ads, including your device's **advertising identifier (Android Advertising ID)**, general device information, and — where you have consented — data used for personalised advertising. This collection is performed by Google, not by us: we receive no personal information about you from it, and we have no access to it.
You can control or reset your advertising identifier at any time in **Settings → Google → Ads** on your device, including opting out of ad personalisation.
Google's own privacy policy explains what Google collects and why: <https://policies.google.com/privacy>

### Your advertising choices in the App
Where required — currently in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland — the App shows Google's **User Messaging Platform** consent form before any ad is requested, and respects your answer. You can change that answer later from within the App.
The App also offers an optional rewarded video that turns off full-screen ads for twelve hours. The small banner remains, and the App says so rather than describing itself as ad-free.
---
## Children
Vehicle Service Manager is not directed at children and is not designed for them. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. The App's content rating reflects a general audience.
---
## Data Security
Your data never leaves your device except when you deliberately export or share it, so there is no server to breach and no account to compromise. Files on your device are protected by Android's own application sandbox, which prevents other apps from reading them.
Because there is no server-side copy, **we cannot recover your data for you** if your device is lost or reset. The App includes a full backup feature for exactly this reason, and we recommend making a backup and keeping a copy somewhere other than the phone it came from.
---
## Your Rights and Choices
- **Delete anything, at any time.** Vehicles, entries, photos, reminders and trips can all be removed inside the App. Deleting a vehicle removes its history with it. - **Delete everything.** Uninstalling the App removes its database, its photos and its settings from your device permanently. - **Control advertising.** Reset or opt out of your advertising identifier in your device settings, and change your consent answer inside the App where the consent form applies. - **Turn off notifications.** In the App, or in your device settings.
Because we hold no personal data about you, there is nothing for us to provide, correct or delete on request — there is no account, and we have no way to identify you.
---
## Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any change will be published on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of the App after a change means you accept the revised policy.
